AGM and Social BBQ

Date: Friday March 25, 2011
Time: AGM 6:00 PM, BBQ 7:00 PM
Location: 682 Okanagan Blvd, Kelowna, BC

IEEE is holding an end of the year BBQ as part of its first Annual General Meeting. The BBQ will be run from 6-9 pm Friday, March 25th. There will be delicious burgers, smokies, probably some corn and various other dishes :-). There will be some official business to get out of the way, a quick election process, and then it’s party time! BYOB, and there will be some games after official business is gotten out of the way.

Some faculty members will be present (so far Dr. Johnson, Dr. Chau and Dr. Holzman are planning to come) and there may also be some engineers from industry attending as well.

Current IEEE members or those interested in becoming a member are welcome to come and may bring a guest if they like. There’s no charge for the BBQ.

For those who are interested in running for a position on the IEEE Executive, or if you have interest in acting as a volunteer in the new IEEE McNaughton Learning Resource Center, this will be a perfect opportunity to meet with the current executive members to discuss your options. A pre-election meeting will start at 6:15pm, and candidates who wish to run in the election will have an opportunity to present themselves and their platform after the AGM. The election itself will take about 15 minutes as it is a very simple voting process. The positions can be seen on the Executive page.

Please RSVP by confirming attendance on the UBC Okanagan IEEE facebook event page (where you will also find the location and other event details)

E-Week is Coming!

This Year E-Week will be celebrated on campus the week of March 7 to March 11. E-Week is our time to celebrate engineer-volunteerism and outreach!

And we are doing . . . something . .  to celebrate the contributions electric and electrical engineers make to society.  The something could be  a BBQ or is could be building a giant robot to scare the arts students.  Ok, its probably the BBQ, stay tuned for more details.

In the mean time, check out all the fun our friends in the Undergraduate Engineering Society have planned.

Excel Workshop

The UBC Okanagan IEEE Student Branch is hosting a two part workshop on Excel.  Topics will range from cell workshops to VBA programing.
