The Messier Astronomy Recreational Society (MARS) is Okanagan’s leading astronomy club for students. All UBC students and astronomy enthusiasts are welcome to take part in the many ongoing MARS events happening this year. MARS is within the UBC Okanagan IEEE Student branch, and a subset of the McNaughton Learning Resource Centre. The club is starting to test out its recently purchased Celestron NexStar 8SE telescope, which was gracious donated by Dr. Jonathon Holzman (IOL website link). If you are interested in star-gazing, astronomy, telescope technology, or space engineering, you can join MARS by either sending your name and contact info to or just show up to one of our events.
